With Slumberland, Belgian musician, composer, and instrument maker Jochem Baelus has been unleashing obscure, hypnotic krautrock and post-punk, colored with echoes of distorted exotica, long-lost soundtracks, and boozy rock & roll greats since 2013. Slumberland’s tactile sound is generated by a battery of sewing machines, film projectors and other dismantled, mechanical objects. He released his debut solo album Slumberland in 2014, Sea, sea, sea Drifter // See, see, see Drifter in 2019, and a recent collaboration with Tuvan voice artist Sainkho Namtchylak in 2022. Slumberland live is an experience that dives into sounds and structures unknown, unearthing the mechanics of composition and improvisation in ways intense and extremely appealing.
