Autumns, with roots in Bristol, has been active since 2014, when he debuted on Regis and Female’s uncompromising Downwards Records. His 2024 Dyslexia Sound Source album on Touch Sensitive traces his development from producing intensely dark punk noise, like a techno take on Big Black, to a more stripped-down sound, leaving a set of mechanical rhythms. Still manic, however, but less punishing, less brutal. Instead, it’s more tribal. The industrial-edged percussion rattles ritualistically, with an overt On-U Sound influence remaining. With snatches of sound system culture, illbient atmospheres, and field recordings, Autumns has deepened his musical perspectives while staying true to his original intentions.
