The Mad Laboratory of Anti-Matter is a free and improvised music duo based in Beirut.
Created in 2022 by Swiss-Lebanese multi-instrumentalist Nadia Daou and Beirut-based Swiss clarinetist Paed Conca, an iconic figure on the improvised music scene. Raw and industrial, the dark soundscape of this laboratory is an exploration of the void and everything that can be found and emanate from it: a sensory, physical, timeless experience. The trance-like quality of repetitive music is combined here with industrial noise. Intense and hypnotic rhythms, a constant search for textures and nuances, and an unconditional love for raw and total art. Nadia Daou, aka Nâr, creates raw and immersive sonic experiences. Her music incorporates Middle Eastern microtonality, North African trance traditions, industrial music, and avant-garde electronic forms. Paed Conca has been active for over 30 years on the contemporary and improvised music scene as a clarinetist and bassist. He collaborates with numerous musicians and composes for theatre, dance, and cinema.
