Using 36 remixes of older Doris works that suddenly become younger, produced and authorized by Frans Ambient in close collaboration with author, musician, artist and Die Tödliche Doris member Wolfgang Müller, this installation is like a labyrinthic tape loop, a reflection on the work of legendary performance art collective and band Die Tödliche Doris that since 1980 has continuously shifted shape. A spiral staircase, you can walk up, you can dance down. Full service. Visible and invisible. Take your chance. This is rare stuff. Deconstructed constructions, nothing seems to fit, and yet, a 36-track strong opera of the many, Die Tödliche Doris rises from the dust of her own identity, wrapping a spiral staircase, pirouetting evocative “Unterhaltungsmusik”. It is a new way to experience the legacy of Die Tödliche Doris and the influence the collective had on German underground music in the 80s and beyond.
