Founded in 2019 by French accordionist Emilie Skrijelj and Belgian musician, drummer, and improviser Tom Malmendier, the duo Les Marquises is dedicated to experimental and
freely improvised music. The duo makes music that is as high-energy as it is delicate, opening up a variety of sound spaces with fascinating, shimmering colors. With impeccable timing, Les Marquises juggle with field recordings or white noise and fully exploit the potential of their instruments, while creating countless nuanced
electroacoustic storms. In addition to Les Marquises, Emilie Škrijelj and Tom Malmendier develop several projects together and with other artists, as well as the sound art/performance project Bruine with German jazz clarinetist and alto saxophonist Michael Thieke.
