Lord Tang was born in a beam of light arcing over a chasm of darkness. He fell to Earth in 2012 and has steadily been picking up the pieces to form the jagged, colorful mosaic he currently inhabits. Heaving himself through tropical sleaze he emerges with a quiet rage that is propelled with a smile. Lord Tang welcomes you to join him in a slow warm descent into a dub fueled sway of mangled beats and wizened melody as he warps the floorboards and moves the ceiling to the wall.
Dominic Cramp has taken Lord Tang all over the United States and Europe. Since releasing the first Lord Tang record on Gigante Sound, he has gone on to work with a handful of labels including Meakusma who helmed his most recent vinyl ep, Prolonged and Sustained. Boomkat fittingly described it as: “Gasping drum machine rhythms underlay disturbed surface textures of sloshing bleeps and gaseous emissions…all landing somewhere between Lee Scratch Perry’s earliest drum machine track ‘Chim Cherie’ and the rugged up styles of BAT.”
Apart from corraling Lord Tang, Cramp toured and recorded for several years with Carla Bozulich’s Evangelista playing keyboards and electronics and is currently involved in the Talking Book; an abstract instrumental project with Jared Blum and Bill Gould from Faith No More. He runs the Gigante Sound label with Mr. Blum which is home to several of their projects. He ives in Oakland, California with his cat, Octavia. She’s not happy with any of this.
