Melos Kalpa is a four-piece ensemble based in London and composed of Marta Salogni (tape machines), David Morris (electric guitar), Jem Doulton (percussion/marimba/vibraphone) and Agathe Max (violin). The ensemble exists somewhere at the intersection between improvisation, minimalism, chance and intention, and was originally formed by music producer and musician Tom Relleen. Marta Salogni is involved in the contemporary music scene playing both composed and improvised live sets using tape machines, loops and feedback. She also works as a producer and recording engineer, having worked on albums by Björk, Depeche Mode, M.I.A., Django Django, Animal Collective, Circuit Des Yeux and many more. Her rise on the international music scene has been nothing short of spectacular, with many musicians and producers wanting to tap into her amazing use of tape and tape loops. Melos Kalpa is the new and unique project she spearheads, showcasing her work principles and musical convictions.
