Giovanni Civitenga is a producer and DJ from Rome. Since 2014, Gio has been curating SKYAPNEA on NTS Radio, a series of broadcasts dedicated to broken club, dubbed out sounds, experimental electronics, and atonal drifts. His DJ sets as SKYAPNEA build on the high-contrast quality of the radio show, spanning from 90s chillout to contemporary experimental bass, led by a strict no-genre policy that twists together sounds from disparate contexts and eras into a rhythmic continuum. As an artist, he releases music under various monikers, mostly under the Eternal Index umbrella. His Detraex Corp moniker is reserved for slower and textural sound exploration, an experimental dub of sorts which utilizes sampling as archeology, building hypothetical music from found fragments.
