A performer and composer specializing in recorder and viola da gamba, Reiter bridges early music and contemporary genres. Her piece, The Wilderness of Mirrors, is inspired by Bach’s D minor partita and explores the transformation of historical musical forms through modern techniques and electronics, using the metaphor of mirrors to reflect and distort musical ideas. The piece boasts a surrealistic mood, embedded in complex, diffuse, and partially overloaded electronics composed exclusively of guitar samples. We see outlines or shadows of the chaconne, a Baroque musical form we know, but they grow increasingly strange.
