Artist, musician, composer, sound designer and recordist Trevor Mathison is a founding member of the renowned cine-cultural artist group, The Black Audio Film Collective (1982-1995). He was also founder of a number of experimental sonic groups, including the dub techno outfit, Hallucinator (1993-2000), the artist collective, Flow Motion (1993-2000), and Dubmorphology, a production and performance group with fellow media artist, Gary Stewart (2003–present). Culture critic Kodwo Eshun has hailed Mathison’s pioneering use of tape loops for its ability to make “the imperial anxieties of the early twentieth century resonate… with the multiple fears of the present.” Mark Fisher stated: “Trevor Mathison’s astonishing sound design certainly draws upon dub, but its voice loops and seething electronics are equally reminiscent of the work of Test Department and Cabaret Voltaire.”
