Violeta García is a cellist, composer, improviser, and curator originally from Buenos Aires and now based in Bern. Her work sits at the intersection of free improvisation, contemporary classical music, and experimental electronic noise, drawing on the violoncello, analog synthesizers, and her own voice. García’s 2018 debut solo album, ACERO, was created for a custom instrument and drew inspiration from field recordings made during her childhood. Her 2022 album FOBIA was composed specifically for cello and explores the instrument’s expressive depth. For her most recent record, IN/OUT (2025), García brought her cello into a cave in Geneva—formerly the city’s reservoir—where she used expanded cello techniques to create a site-specific piece that responded to the unique acoustic environment.
