If It Sounds Like A Walk (We’re on a road to nowhere)

a guided sounddérive

Friday, Saturday
10:00

 broadcast live on Studio Néau
Friday 4 & Saturday 5
10 -11am

Hosts: Lorena Carras and Jean-Marie Dhur (Zabriskie Bookstore) and Loma Doom

Tune into Studio Neau for an invitation to drift, to float, to roam, to saunter, to stray. Rather than mapping out a route, this live soundwalk invites you to embark on a dérive: to wander without a destination, following whatever along the way asks for your radical attention. Guided by live sound prompts drawn from excerpts of existing soundwalks, If It Sounds Like a Walk takes you down a road to nowhere — but with your ears tuned into what might otherwise pass unnoticed.

The idea for If It Sounds like a Walk originated in Berlin bookstore Zabriskie when sound-practicioner Loma Doom (real name Femke Dekker) came to present her book ‘Open Field Listening Station’ earlier this year. Having met owners Jean-Marie and Lorena at Meakusma a few years before – where the two host their pop up bookstore each edition – the three of them bonded over their love of books, music and listening instantly.
