TIMETABLE CHANGE SUSANNAH STARK – DALI MURU, Day 1 of the festival
The performances of Susannah Stark & Band and Dali Muru & The Polyphonic Swarm switch places, which means Dali Muru & the Polyphonic Swarm will perform at 19:00 and Susannah Stark & Band at 23:00, both still at the Kühlraum at the Alter Schlachthof.

MAIKA GARNICA CANCELLATION, AIKO DEVRIENDT NOW PERFORMS SOLO
Due to illness, Maika Garnica has had to cancel her appearance at the festival. She was supposed to perform live together with Aiko Devriendt who will now perform solo, using some of the ceramic sounds of Garnica’s work.
NAOMIE KLAUS CANCELLATION, ALTO FUERO ADDED TO THE LINE UP
Unfortunately, Naomie Klaus has had to cancel her appearance at the festival. We have now added Alto Fuero to the lineup. The duo Alto Fuero combine aggressive Spanish poetry with sweetly ritualist recorded sounds and unregulated percussion full of twisted samples, forging a soundtrack to an illegal rave in the year 3000, when humankind has fully embraced ritualist, naturalist living.
Morthen Kiang will take Naomie Klaus’s spot on Friday from 00.45 till 02.00 on Friday. Alto Fuero will perform on Sunday at 16.15 instead of Morthen Kiang.
FRED FRITH CANCELLATION, IGNAZ SCHICK ADDED TO THE TRIO
Fred Frith has had to cancel his appearance at the Meakusma Festival due to tearing his achilles tendon and requiring medical followup. His place in the trio with Anil Eraslan and Tom Malmendier will be taken over by experimental musician Ignaz Schick. They have never performed the three of them together, but they musical backgrounds and modi operandi will make for a very exciting concert. We wish Fred a speedy recovery!
DJ PYTHON CANCELLATION, OSSIA ADDED TO THE LINE UP
We regret to have to inform you that, that DJ Python has had to cancel his appearance at the Meakusma Festival 2022. We are thrilled however to now have now secured Ossia for a live set for the festival.
Ossia’s sound world is an amalgamation of heavy-weather, beyond-good-and-evil soundsystem poetics, channelling raw and rootical techno, isolationist abstraction and dub at its most turbulent and raw-nerved. Through running a range of record labels and being a member of Bristol’s Young Echo Sound, he has amassed a wide knowledge and in-depth understanding of music that informs his own skewed, futuristic drenched-in-dread aesthetic and his unhinged take on soundsystem and club music.
CHRISTINA KUBISCH CANCELLATION, FRANZISKA WINDISCH ADDED TO THE LINEUP
We regret to have to inform you that, for technical reasons, Christina Kubisch has had to cancel her appearance at the Meakusma Festival 2022. We are thrilled however to now have now secured Franziska Windisch and her Orientation/Dance #07 performative sound installation for the festival.
Orientation/dance as a performative sound installation invites participants to pay close attention to their own way of listening, but also to the acoustic properties and dynamics of the space in which the performance takes place. As a sequence of choreographed movements, the performance setup oscillates between modes of isolation opening up towards the outside, of individual and collective action. The participants carry custom-made listening modules built out of lightweight, flexible wooden boards on their shoulders. The inside of each module is covered with acoustic foam. When closed around the head, noises from the outside are diminished. Spoken instructions are transmitted though built-in fm-receivers.
Franziska Windisch is an artist and lecturer based in Brussels, Belgium. Her work moves between the areas of performance, text, composition and installation. She composes scores for performative acts which interrogate notions of trace, medium, sound and listening and which she then incorporates in linguistic, sculptural and installative arrangements.

We regret to have to inform you that, that Eric Copeland has had to cancel his appearance at the Meakusma Festival 2022. We are thrilled however to now have now secured Phillip Mattala for a live set next to his Dj set on Saturday for the festival.

We regret to have to inform you that, that Efrain Rozas has had to cancel his appearance at the Meakusma Festival 2022.
AYLU CANCELLATION, REPLACED BY MADALYN MERKEY
We regret to have to inform you that Aylu, who was going to be part of the Mana showcase, has had to cancel her performance at the Meakusma Festival 2022. She will be replaced by Californian composer Madalyn Merkey who works in acoustic research and live computer music. Merkey’s digital voice processing has a sensational effect, the human voice modulating between foreground and background. In observing the acoustic principles of an instrument, she designs a real-time synthesis program to generate complementary timbral events and contrasting scales. This survey has led to an ongoing series of site-specific electronic music performances, in which principles of location, room acoustics and surround sound are the foundation to develop sound material. She recently released the gorgeous Puzzle Music album on Mana.
