SSTROM is the project of Hannes Stenström, formerly of Swedish band Slagsmålsklubben and one half of SHXCXCHCXSH. SSTROM’s output is explicitly immersive, relying on tense immediacy and spontaneity. The subtle 4×4 pulsations frame vivid narratives, rich layers of texture, and lush harmonies that surface from a warm, alien flow. He released his debut EP, Fyren, on Semantica in 2016, before launching his own imprint, Rösten, with his SHXCXCHCXSH partner the following year. SSTROM initially released the Vitriol EP and Otider album in 2018, before returning on Rösten with Drenched, a 12-track release split into 3 EPs, each released three weeks apart. With limited ways of working, Drenched uncovered a more minimalistic form of expression, based on very short but mind-bending harmonic structures and layered pulsations.
