Valentina Magaletti is a drummer-composer and multi-instrumentalist who redefines percussion with her original approach. Her versatile technique, spanning vibraphone to contact microphones, allows her to explore bold, unconventional soundscapes, enriching the folkloric and traditional palette of her native Italy. Maria Bertel is a Danish trombonist, improviser, and composer. The amplified acoustic sound of her instrument creates an output that draws inspiration from drone and noise music. Changing organic patterns emerge, and tiny sounds become brutally clear, as does the instrument’s range of overtones. She is a member of Selvhenter, the free all-female ensemble that roots their compositions in jazz forms, subverting the fold by merging noise, avant-punk, warping electronica, dense doom textures, nervy percussion, and even some fluid dub into the proceedings.
