Yuching Huang, or Yu Ching, is a Taiwanese musician and one-half of the duo Aemong (with Herrique Uba). Based in Taipei and Berlin, she released her debut album, The Crystal Hum, on the Night School label in 2024. Yu Ching sings love songs at the end of this world and the beginning of the next. She sings in both Mandarin and English, and her songs speak of earthly matters that seem poised to dissipate into nothing. Distorted, beguiling Sambas warble like sweating dancehalls in an imagined Lynchian 1960s. All of her songs feel like a love song dedicated to the bits between worlds, between beats, the negative space between people where desires, feelings, and loss hang in the air, resolute and unresolved.
