Quietly responsible for some of this century’s most arresting and influential dance music, Dutchman Dave Huismans has paradoxically managed to break new ground with pretty much all of his releases. Rooted in 90s house and techno, his music reveals an off-kilter, sometimes wildly idiosyncratic approach to composition, often characterized by adventurous broken rhythms and extensive digging and sampling techniques. His alias 2562, on Bristol’s legendary Tectonic Recordings, pioneered a crossover between techno and the deeper strains of dubstep. As a Made Up Sound, he delved into adventurous house and techno music.
